How long have you been doing this?

I started drawing caricatures in the summer of 2003 at Sesame Place theme park in Pennsylvania. I also spent some time drawing at Six Flags theme park in New Jersey and Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. Since 2003, I have entertained at hundreds of events and drawn thousands of people around the greater Philadelphia region!

Please email colin@mainlinecaricatures.com or call 267-346-0104 with your event information (date, time, and type of event). If I am available to draw at your event I will email you my contract. The date can be held with a deposit of 50% of the total along with the signed contract.

What kind of events do you entertain?

Birthdays, Graduations, Barbeques, Communion Parties, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Wedding Receptions, Retirement Parties, Company Picnics, Sweet Sixteens, Fairs, Store Openings, Baby Showers, Proms, Post Proms, or any other type of events you are having!

What does your set-up look like at my event?

I draw with a portable French easel for a quick, easy, and non-obtrusive set-up. The only thing the host needs to provide are 2 or 3 chairs as well as a location near an electrical outlet for a small lamp if lighting is necessary. Set-up only takes about 5-10 minutes.

What size paper do you draw on?

My caricatures are drawn on 11”x14” high quality paper. The drawings are given to guests in a 12”x16” clear plastic bag for protection. Custom paper sizes and pre-printing of event information on the paper is available upon request. Please call or email me for a quote.

What materials do you draw with?

I draw with a black permanent marker and shade/color with Prismacolor Art Stix or Prismacolor Colored Markers. The drawings are permanent and will not smear.

Can you fit two or more people in the same drawing?

Up to four people can be drawn on the same piece of paper. Guests will be drawn one at a time on the same paper, so there is no need for everyone to sit and stay still all at the same time.

Do you draw at weddings?

Of course! I have drawn at many weddings. Wedding packages are available upon request with a flat fee for the duration of your reception. Pre-printed paper with your custom wedding information is included within the package. There is also flexibility in the packaging of the drawings to fit the décor of your reception. Caricatures are a unique type of entertainment for your reception and provide great mementos for your guests to remember your special day for years to come.

Do you do this for living?

Yes! Although I also screen print t-shirts, carve woodblock prints, and teach art lessons.

Did you go to school for this?

I studied Fine Arts at Tyler School of Art of Temple University. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2005 with a major in Printmaking and a minor in Art History. I was self-taught while drawing caricatures during the summer breaks of college at theme parks and parties. Caricature artists are all mostly self-taught. Over time we develop our own style of drawing, so no two caricature artists will draw one person the same exact way.

Can you draw a caricature from a photograph?

Yes! Caricatures from photographs make a unique and personalized gift for any friend, co-worker, or family member. It’s also a lot of fun to get one just for yourself. At least 2 or 3 quality photographs are needed for each person. Size, color or black and white, text, style, and materials can all be customized to your preference. The drawings can be done in a classic party style or digital. Please email me your request for a price quote.
